Pope Benedict XVI resigns

Pope Benedict XVI has announced his resignation as the head of the Catholic Church hurch, citing old age as the reason for this. He is currently 85 years old. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger became Pope in 2005 after John Paul II's death. His resignation is the first papal resignation in nearly 600 years.
