Keshi gets stadium named after him

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state has named the Asaba stadium after Stephen Keshi. In addition to this, he was also given the sum of N8 million and a house in the state capital. This was given to him during a reception held for the national team at the Asaba international event centre. Members of his coaching team as well as the players were also rewarded handsomely. Daniel Amokachi, Sylvanus Okpalla, and Ike Shorunmu received N4m each. Each player got N2.5m each, while old and present players of Warri Wolves such as, Sunday Mba, Chigozie Agbim, Azuibike Egweke and Brown Ideye got N5m each.

Keshi resigns as Super Eagles coach

Just less than 24 hours after winning the AFCON, Steven Keshi has submitted his resignation letter to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). The reason for his resignation is that he learnt he had been sacked by the NFF when it was learnt that the Super Eagles were to play Cote d'Ivoire in the AFCON quarter finals. I

Emenike ruled out of AFCON finals

The Nigerian national team has suffered a big blow as their top striker, Emmanuel Emenike, has been ruled out of the AFCON finals against Burkina Faso on Sunday due to injury. Scans revealed that he suffered a thigh muscle tear in the right leg during Nigeria's semi-final match against Mali.

D'banj to perform at AFCON 2013 closing ceremony

D'banj is expected to perform live in South Africa during the closing ceremony of the African Cup of Nations. He is to perform two songs: "Oliver twist" and "top of the world". He will be joined on stage by his brother K-Switch, as well as J Sol.

Nigerians to watch AFCON finals on local TV stations

The Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, has confirmed that Nigerians will have the opportunity to watch the finals of the AFCON 2013 between Nigeria and Burkina Faso on local television stations.
